Prognosis |
A collection of disorders, including Tonsillitis Pharyngitis, Laryngitis with cough, general illness, fever, pain in the throat, and scanty sputum that is occasionally prulent. |

General Measures |
Rest in bed until acute symptoms subside. Avoidance of chilled drinks. Room humidification. Salt water gargling. |

Advice to Patient |
To avoid droplet spread by avoiding crowds, avoiding close facial contact, using hand kerchief when coughing. |

Inadequate Response |
Secondary bacterial infection in some one being treated symptomatically for suspected viral infection. |

Prevention |
Full course of anntibiotics, especially if streptococci suspected or grown in culture, to prevent rheumatic fever. For those with past history of rheumatic fever, and the vulnerable group (see above) start/or continue prophylaxis as advised under \'Rheumatic Fever\' |
